PLACES TO VISIT IN MALAYSIA |

|
|
Kuala Lumpur |
|
Malaysia has
much to offer the traveller. Visit Kuala Lumpur, the "Garden
City of Lights" and shop till you drop at its many modern
shopping complexes or colourful bazaars at Chinatown and
Central Market. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city, legislative
capital of Malaysia and the largest city in the country. Kuala
Lumpur is one of the three Malaysian Federal Territories. It
is an enclave within the state of Selangor, on the central
west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Within Malaysia, Kuala
Lumpur is commonly referred to as KL. |
 |
The city previously
hosted the Malaysian judiciary and executive arms. With the
completion of Putrajaya in the late 1990s, both arms have since
migrated to Putrajaya though sections of the judicial branch still
remain in Kuala Lumpur

Penang |
|
For food lovers, a trip to Penang
is a must! There are many stalls selling local delicacies. You can
reach Penang via the Penang Bridge. While there, visit the Snake
Temple or take the funicular train up Penang Hill for a panoramic
view of the island.
Penang
is the name of an island in the
Straits of Malacca, and also of one of the
states of
Malaysia, located on the north-west coast of
peninsular Malaysia. Penang is the second smallest state in
Malaysia after
Perlis, and the eighth most populous. A resident of Penang is
colloquially known as a Penangite. |

|
Langkawi |
|
Langkawi comprises a group of 99 tropical islands lying off the
north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 30km from Kuala
Perlis and 51km from Kuala Kedah on the mainland. The main island
is popularly known as Pulau Langkawi. The islands are blessed with
an intriguing heritage of fabulous myths and legends of ogres
and gigantic birds, warriors and fairly princesses, battles

|
romance. As a natural paradise, the islands are perhaps
unmatched anywhere else in Southeast Asia.
Langkawi
is an
archipelago of 99 islands in the
Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern
Malaysia. The islands are a part of Malaysia's
Kedah state, but are adjacent to the
Thai border. By far the largest of the islands is the
eponymous Pulau Langkawi with a population of some 45,000,
the only other inhabited island being nearby
Pulau Tuba. |

Genting
|
|
2,000 meters above sea level, Genting Highlands, a magnificent
city on the hilltop, is but a mere 50km from Kuala Lumpur. It
offers a cool respite from the hustle and bustle of the city
capital. Crisp invigorating mountain air complemented by majestic
scenery spreads out before your eyes. Lush green tropical
rainforest shrouded in a veil of perpetual mist makes it hard to
believe that you are just minutes away from the sweltering
equatorial heat and the ever dusty city. Here, consistent
temperatures between 16 and 23 degrees provide natural air
conditioning.
Genting Highlands
(2000m) is a mountain peak within the
Titiwangsa Mountains of
Peninsular Malaysia and is home to a famous
mountain resort by the same name. Straddling on the borders of
Malaysian states of
Pahang and
Selangor, it can be reached in over an hour by car from
Kuala Lumpur or via the fastest moving
cable car in
Southeast Asia.
It is
sometimes known as the
Las Vegas of Malaysia as it is the only legal land-based
casino in Malaysia, run by the
Genting Group. The resort also features many
hotels owned by Genting subsidiaries including Genting Hotel,
Highland Hotel, Resorts Hotel, Theme Park Hotel, and Awana Genting.
First World Hotel has 6,300
rooms, making it among the largest hotels in the world. Other
facilities in this resort include a
theme park,
golf course,
shopping malls,
sky diving
simulator,
concert hall and many more.
Genting Highlands functions every year as the finish of a stage in
the
Tour de Langkawi cycling race. It is one of the longest (30
km) climbs featured in a cycling event. Below the hill is the
Chinese temple called
Chin Swee Temple for Chinese and the mosque called
Masjid Yayasan Mohammad Noah for Muslims

PARKS-RIVERS-LAKE

Taman Negara |
|
Taman
Negara (National Park)
straddles the borders of
Kelantan,
Terengganu and
Pahang in Peninsular Malaysia. A totally protected area of
4,343 sq km, Taman Negara is one of the world's oldest tropical
rain forests. The diversity of its fauna and flora is a result of
undisturbed evolution over 130 million years.
Taman Negara is a particularly
favorable destination for trekking, as the park's remarkable
biodiversity is matched by a good network of jungle trails and the
availability of expert guides. The park is also noted for fishing,
especially along the upper reaches of the Tahan or Kenyam rivers,
and for rafting the rapids of Sungai Tembeling.

RIVERS
|
|
MAGIC
RIVER |
|
The RIVER is a perfect metaphor of
RENEWAL and INSPIRATION.
Rivers serve as the arteries of the earth, offering cleansing and
sustenance to numerous lifeforms.
They form fertile beds for the
germination and growth of communities and civilizations.
Rivers are ancient as the hills and never run dry - unless
subjected to severe environmental abuse.
We speak of “the river of the water
of life” in our ecstatic visions of Heaven on Earth.
The River, as a dynamo and a revitalizing playground of the
spirit, aptly embodies
the essence of the Rainbow Tribe Community Arts Project known as MAGICK RIVER.
In directly experience able terms, the living energy of MAGICK RIVER expresses
itself in the perpetual dance of virginal WATER:
the symbol of life, birth, joy, transformation, rebirth and
healing.
The word “magick” relates to the power of the IMAGINATION -
expressed
through a harmonious marriage of Intellect and Intuition. Magick
denotes the practical fusion of Art, Science, and Spiritual
Wisdom, evoking the alchemist’s symbolic quest: to turn lead into
gold, transmute the base into the noble.
MAGICK is a fun word that suggests serendipity, spontaneity,
creativity
and productivity beyond all expectations.
MAGICK RIVER is a rainbow alliance of individuals with diverse
talents, promoting ecospiritual activities and community arts projects that involve
an Orang Asli (aboriginal) tribe of Peninsular Malaysia, the Temuan - who for countless generations
have guarded the rainforests and sacred sites of Pertak, Ulu Selangor, their
ancestral home.

PAHANG
LAKE |
|
Those who
like calm lakes can visit Pahang where Tasik Bera, the largest
natural freshwater lake in Peninsular Malaysia, and Tasik Chini
are located. Tasik Kenyir in Terengganu, however, holds the record
as being the largest manmade lake in South-east Asia. The lake
also acts as Malaysia’s largest rock-filled hydroelectric dam!
The Paya
Indah Wetland (Selangor) is also a lovely getaway where you can
explore the wonders of nature. Once a barren land from years of
tin mining and logging, this rehabilitated ecosystem is currently
a habitat to lush vegetation and thriving wildlife.
:It’s always
fun to have a picnic at riverbanks and waterfalls. If cascading
falls and running streams are your cup of tea, then you should
visit places such as Kanching Falls (Kuala Lumpur), Ulu Bendol (Negeri
Sembilan) or Lata Kijang (Perak). However, if you prefer rivers,
you should note that Malaysia’s longest river can be found in
Sarawak, and it’s called Sungei Rejang.
